A male Emperor Moth was successfully encouraged by gentle warming to emerge early in the hope he would pair up with the female that prematurely emerged on the 26 March. As yet he has shown no interest in the female and will probably have to be released. The remaining cocoons which are part of last year’s St Mark’s Primary School science life-cycle project are still in the fridge and will hopefully begin emerging for the children to see after the Easter break.
