Comments	Unforecast heavy rain in the early hours swamped the trap.

27 September – Vapourer Moths

4 Male Vapourers flying this morning in the garden around Sycamore trees. These are the first records of this species in the Reserve.

22 September – Meddon Green Local Nature Reserve Public Event

As so often seems to happen with public events as soon as the trap goes on it pours with rain. Amazingly a few moths braved the weather in the short time the light was on. This small unimproved culm grassland site has much to offer and hopefully will be revisited next year. My thanks go to Tom Hynes of the North Devon Coast and Countryside Service for inviting me to moth trap.

This sighting of a female Common Blue is two weeks later than the previous latest date. This year has been a good year for this species in the garden with double figure counts during August
